On Thursday 10th January 16 members of the WI went to the Royal Shakespeare Theatre at Stratford to see a performance of this classic Christmas story.
We watched as Aden Gillett in the role of Scrooge is transformed from the mean-spirited, miserly Ebeneezer Scrooge to someone who is generous, cheery and compassionate towards others helped along by the four ghosts. With a nod to the modern day David Edgar included in his adaptation a Mrs Snapchat, Master Tinder and Herr Uber as well as including a joke about Donald Trump.
The ghostly special effects kept us guessing (how did they do that?) especially when Scrooge pushes his hand all the way through Marley’s ghost!
There was live singing and dancing to help the whole show go with a swing. A show that was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
