Here are the arrangements for William Usher’s funeral tomorrow, Thursday 15th October.
Could we please ask that all of you who may have neighbours not able to access the internet to please pass the information on – particularly to the elderly and those in the village who would have known William, and more likely been involved through his kindness, gentleness and generosity of spirit in his more than 50 years in Aynho.
The funeral takes place at 2.30pm in St Michael’s Church. Only 30 people can be at the funeral inside and outside the church. Anne, and her daughter Catherine, will be supported by close family and friends in that very small number. All those people have been invited already and know the details.
The Service will be streamed on the internet to give those many others who would in normal circumstances have liked to attend the funeral a chance to “be there”.

William’s coffin will arrive at St Michael’s Church at 2pm. The route the hearse will take from Banbury is: Adderbury, left up Charlton Road, right down Portway, and right down the main road, in front of The Glebe, past the bus stops and then left into Church Walk. We tell you this in case anyone would like to witness, show support or respect, or just be there on a day when you might have wished to be at the Church or at the graveside. It will only be a few minutes before 2pm and would leave time to return to your TV/computer to watch the service. (Everyone will be aware of the COVID safety measures.)
Other matters:
- Please leave the Church Car Park free all day for those preparing the Church and for the mourners to park during the Service.
- Please also note the Church will not be open for private individual prayer tomorrow – it will be open again at 10am on Sunday.
