In the blink of an eye it disappears,
The days, the weeks, the months, the years.
We hold on tight and plan ahead,
Regret the things that went unsaid.
We see the tree and watch it grow,
The leaves turn brown, then fall below.
We water flowers, smell their scent,
We wonder where the good days went.
We save our pennies just in case
We need them later in the race.
But the finish line lies out of sight,
We’re sure the future will be bright.
The bad days and the good days too
Will end no matter what we do.
