Aynho Long Walk 22nd March 2018

Fourteen of us set off down Green Lane as the sunshine disappeared. At Lower Walton Grounds we took the track along the valley towards Charlton. This was not as muddy as it has been and not quite as shown in the photograph. We continued into the field as the track curves towards the hill and took the field edge to the footbridge as the footpath is not yet re-marked. The stream below the footbridge was not as fast or deep as it had been in spite of the recent snow melt. We reached the bridge and stile that leads up to the village below the Rose and Crown it shortened the walk compared with the route up to the old stone pits. We continued through Charlton Village and then took the path up to Rainsborough Camp and onto the Charlton Road. We reached the Pavilion in record time and enjoyed the refreshments knowing that next week only coffee and tea will be available as Dawn will be away.
