Aynho Long Walk 1st September 2016

A perfect day for a walk this week. Warm and sunny but with a light, cooling breeze. ten of us set out on the six mile walk we call the Kings Sutton Loop. WE took the green Lane down to Lower Walton Grounds and enjoyed the wonderful views across to Deddington, Banbury, and almost to Brackley. We crossed the stream and followed the track round to the old farmer Workers’ cottages before taking the narrow track alongside the end house and crossing fields to climb up to the copse at the top of the ridge. From there we worked our way down to College Lane and entered the village of Kings Sutton. We crossed the green and took the path through to the back of the village and cut through the new housing estate towards the railway and the garden scrapyard. We crossed Station Road and took the path up the slope to the large pasture between the houses and the railway. After crossing this field we joined the track which brought us out at the entrance to the village. From here we took the path across to the sewage works and on down to Lower Walton Grounds again. This time we joined the track down to the farm buildings and then took the path up to the old Dad’s Army hut and back into Aynho village and the pavilion for well earned refreshments. Nest week it will be bring your own as Anita is away and kay is also not available.
